I have a 6 yr old gelding who stomps flies bad. Does anyone know of a really good fly spray?

Answers:
Fly pel is an excellant spray. We get it the vet's cost of $68 a gallon no mixing so it's expensive. But if the flies are on them when you're spraying they drop to the ground it lasts long enough for a good ride.
If your looking for a pasture remedy check out the drops you apply down the back and legs. The main ingrediant is pymethrin (sp?) so some of the dog versions are the same thing but cheaper. This works well for cutting down flies in the pasture for about two weeks without the worry of trying to spray them a couple times a day. Then we just add a little spray to ride.

Flysect Super 7 seems to work very well against flies. Nothing lasts for too long, but it is holding up pretty well against the flies and gnats here in the South. Off insect repellant for people works well too believe it or not.

You may not believe this, but use Skin So Soft by Avon. I'm not kidding. We would wipe it all over our horses, especially around their eyes. I don't know what is in that product, but it works like a charm. You just have to trust me on this one. Try for yourself.

I used to use a Farnam brand fly spray that you mix. But don't mix it with water, mix it with white vinegar. Smells funky, but REALLY works great.

War Paint...is really good for putting around their eyes, its like a paste that will last for a week. and try endure fly spray. there is this other kind too that i use but i don't remember the name i know it comes in a bright orange bottle though.

Use a fly spray that has an oil base it lasts longer and you can spray it on or rub it on. My horse does the same and the person that puts his shoes on him uses it on him every time.

Green Shield, it's an all natural flyspray; so it doesn't make your horse's coat oily, and it smells like mint. It works, really well, I use it for all my horses.
