How would I price a four month mare for sale?

Without seeing her, it would be hard to say. You need to consider these factors in pricing her. Since she is so young, she will have not training, so all you really have to base it on is bloodlines and past performance of the sire and dam. Is she registered? Has either one been shown or raced? Won any awards? Produced any other colts that have won in performance or halter? Right now the horse market is really down with the high cost of fuel and hay. Good, registered, solid broke using horses are barely bringing $1000 here in North Texas. Broodmares %26 babies are bringing even less. I would look at the Paint Horse Journal and find something similar to her in color and bloodlines and maybe get an idea from there. Good Luck!
This is a very complicated question. Horses are all different and used for different things. Now since she is young, it isn't as hard. But if you were to have a horse you trained and sell, they put emotions into the price of what they had to go threw to train it. She sounds beuatiful! How is her conformation? Bloodlines? I would price her at $1000 but I dont know much about her so I could be wrong.
It depends on if she is well trained and many other things also. We got a mare that was about 6 years old, but we didn't sell her for that much because she came from an abusive situation( we bought her from some 1 who had taken her in from an abuser and tried to fix her up) she was supposed to be a very calm horse and good for trail riding, but it ended up that she still needed training. So it depends on her situation and all that sort of stuff.
i think right now that would mostly depend on where you live...for instance, here in south dakota, hay is hard to come by so horses are cheap...even registered ones. if hay is plentiful, and she is registered or registerable...she could go for 600 to 1000. here, you would do good to get 400 to 600, which is what you could normally expect for a filly of that age that is grade (non registered or registereable).if hay is hard to come by like here, then you are in the same boat we are in...4-6oo for reg. 1-300 for grade.even tho she sounds nice. good luck with her.
For starters, you would need to advertise her as what she is, and at 4months old, she's not a mare - she's a filly, technically, she's not even a weanling filly yet - so why is she being sold so young? Figure in her blood lines, what she will be a good prospect for, and do some price comparisons to similar fillies to come up with a good price.
I would say about $1000, since she is young, she cant be ridden yet, so unless she is registered or has bloodlines, or something, than this is a good asking price.
BTW: She is not yet a mare, but a filly until she is one year old.
