How tall will my colt be?

He is 3 months old and is 11.2hh. His sire is around 15.1hh-15.2hh and his dam is 15.1hh. So how tall do you think he will be as an adult?
Answers:
Probably about the height of his parents. Sometime horses will be very different, but the height of his parents is a good indicator...and since they are the same height, chances are good he will be about the same. You can do some measurements to approximate his full grown height, but they are not always exact. You can take a string and measure from the point of elbow to the fetlock. Then, still holding the string at his elbow, bring the other end of the string until it vertical above the horse's back. That will give you a good indication of the final height of the horse. There is also another string test where you measure the lower front leg, but I cannot remember if you measure to the fetlock or coronet band...I think the coronet band, then however many inches it measure is approximately how tall the horse will end up.
It's hard to tell with a colt, even based on the parent's sizes. I know a foal who was 13hh at six months old with a tall dam(not sure about the sire) and she is full grown now and 14.2hh. It's possible your colt will be the same height as his parents, he could dwarf them, or he could end up tiny. Sorry for being so completely unhelpful.
around 15hh
Because horse's legs are almost fully grown when they're born, you can get a close estimate of his adult height by running a measuring tape from from the middle of his knee to the top of his coronet band. Don't follow the contour of his leg, just measure from the middle of his knee straight to his coronet band. the measurement is aprox. 25% of his adult height. For example, if you get 15 inches, he'll probably be about 15 hands.
probably around 15 hands
he should be around 15.1/ 15.2 doubt he'll get any taller than that.
