I absolutely love horses! But my older sister is allergic to them.?

My grandparents take me to their friend's ranch and i get to ride their horses and groom them but that's hardly ever and i have to go to their house afterwards and take a shower and change my clothes before i go home. I love riding the horses but it's just so hard having to do that all the time so my sister won't get an asthma attack. Any ideas?
Answers:
Have her go to an allergist and start getting allergy shots they work so well.
The horses are probably allergic to your sis too.
you could keep them in a separate place were they aren't near her.
if you have a pasture then you could get a horse and just pen it in the back. If that isn't possible then you could take riding lessons at a lesson barn. There are also riding summer camps that you could go to.
Your sister needs to see her doctor- there are many effective treatments available these days which will control and prevent asthma attacks from animal dander. I have a sister who has the same problem- that is why she doesn't have any pets, and likely never will. As for you, have you talked to your grandparents about the possibility of buying or leasing a horse of your own? You could board it at their friends' ranch where you currently ride- and your sister does NOT have to come to the ranch unless she wants to. Another possibility would be for you to get a job working on the ranch- either for the summer, or during the school year, with hours after school or on weekends. As for having to change and bathe when you get done riding, have you ever asked your instructor or the ranch owners if you can use their facilities? If you could change and bathe there, instead of having to go to your grandparents' home to do this each time, then it will save you time and commuting back and forth, and it might actually save you some money on gas. You can learn to plan ahead that way, and to take a bag with a change of clothes and your shower stuff with you when you go to the ranch to ride. That way, you will always be clean when you are near your sister, and the complaints about her asthma should start to die down somewhat. Hope this helps.
Ever heard of an American bashkir curly?? they are hypo allergenic if you ever had the opportunity to ride one it would help
Have her go to an allergist and start getting allergy shots they work so well. It worked well for me, I groom them and ride them myself too..

OR she can take allergy meds if she knows you are coming home to take a shower.
A lady and her daughter at the barn I board at have to strip and shower as soon as they get home because the husband (father) is allergic to horses...
They're at the barn most every day, so if there was an easier way they'd know. Especially since the Mom is a nurse.
you could get ur gramas and grandpas friends to get a curly horse they are for people who are allergic 2 horses and that would be really hard all the time 2 do that maybe get her 2 take some alegy pills if they have those or you can get her 2 take some shots
Ride on a time when your sister is not home (and ride at a barn..). The go home, take a shower and you are good to go!

Maybe you can get allergy pills to take. I know they work really well...good luck
You could board your horse at a stable and every time you work with your horse take a shower and change your clothes afterwards. Plus you could spend time with your horse all day so it's not like a waste of shower and clothes every 3 hours.
i am also allergic to animals, but i have 2 horses and 1 donkey. i love them so much. i spend time with them but take a allergy pill before i know i will be spending alot of time out there. see about getting your parents to take her to the doctor to get some meds and dont let that stop you from doing something that you really love.i didnt have anywhere to put a horse when i was growing up either but i always said that when i get old enough i would and i did. good luck.
Is there maybe a stable closer to home? You might be able to trade labor in the barn for some riding time. Either way keep it up and ride when you can. As you get older it will get easier.
I suggest your sister see a doctor
but in the mean time got to a stable and ride there and when you get home make sure your sister knows ( and she stays away) Have clean cloths already in the bathroom with a trash bag.
Go straight to the bathroom ( don't touch anything) Take off your riding cloths and put them in the trash bag and tie it up take a shower and take the trash bag with cloth to the laundry room and wash them immediately ( wash hands afterward)
AS for you shoes have a plastic box or something ( outside or in the garage and keep you shoes in there. Remember to take off your socks,
I hope you find something that works! And live you passion for horses.
Good luck!
I agree with most the answers on here... have her go to the doctor for medications or shots. Then she many even be able to join you in your love for the equine.
I would just get a new sister =:>)
The American Bashkir Curly horse is about the only thing I can think of that would really help. Most people who are allergic to horsehair are not allergic to Curlies.
Unfortunately, that doesn't seem like a feasible option for you, so you're going to have to stick with the showers and clothes-changes.
