I'm not sure where you live but most horse owners I know love to share. It doesn't sound like you want to make money so list on Craigslist that you'd like to learn about horses and would help for free if needed.
As a child I was tall and strong so horse owners liked me to help them break in horses that had been given too much freedom from young children.
I hope this helps you...
Good luck,
After reading up a bit on horses (check out the library or google :] )You could volunteer at a shelter or rescue to get some basic knowledge down and then maybe try to get a job at a local stable in exchange for lessons. A lot of barns do that and i think it's a really great hands on experience.
volunteer to help out at a horse facility near you.
YES! hey! Im 12 too! NOW
i just finished a class where you got to train horses (mine was Momo) and you get to do crafts and meet people and have a water slide and have a horse show and canter or lope! all in 5 days! its really cool! try joining some camp like mine! trust me its awesome!!!!!1
u can go get lesson's .and believe me u are never to old to start...I began when I was 15 and there was even older peolpe there
I began liking horses 4 years ago and im 13 now, im getting a horse soon because i have been working with my neighbor and her horse. after learning safety, different breeds, gender, training, health, exercise, and all the info (theres lots more) then u can think about getting one.
Riding lessons are a great start, or if you find them too expensive, look into trail riding places. More often than not they are happy to give free rides in exchange for help with feeding, cleaning tack, and mucking out stalls. Hands-on experience is the key to learning with horses, so get out there and enjoy it. Best of luck :)
every horse lover is a begginer at first, you always have to start some were think of the top horse riders they didnt just get on the horse and become pros it took them alot of time, practice and patience. one way to get involved read as many horse theory books as you can about tack, turn out, how to do the basics all of that stuff linging etc and also read novels they will form the basis as well. go to a local tack shop and buy some second hand jods and boots and a new riding hat then ask any of your friends where they ride or even ask at the tack shop then look around at some yards and start of with one lesson a week to get the basics as you start to progress go for 2 lesoons a week and then 3 as you become more experience which takes time, try half baiting a horse
Is there any riding barns where you live? You could muck stalls inreturn for lessons. I applaud you asking!! yayyyyy
If theres some big barns you could ask there also.
Volunteer at animal shelters, barns
none of the top riders skipped steps- there is no replacement for years of work.
Take lessons! It's as simple as that. However, horseback riding is an expensive sport, so you really have to be serious about it. I started at a summer day camp and fell in love with horses. The problem with summer camps is that you learn really slowly. So I suggest you find a stable close to your home and ask if they give courses and lend horses.
Have fun: horseback riding is truly a beautiful sport!
